Today I attended the Midwives Rally run by ICM at Lake Eola located in downtown Orlando. I was pleasantly surprised by all the friendly people and how passionate they were about birth. I thought to myself, “Hrm, yes, this is where I belong!” I held up a sign that said, “Hug a Midwife” and I handed out my business cards. Many amazing speeches were given and I was blown away with how well recieved the main message was:
Bring birth home!
There were a lot of mama’s who had had home births with and without midwives. I was one of the few that had an unassisted home birth, made me feel all special.
I had my picture taken by several photographers at the rally and am excited to see where they pop on in the internets world.
I am just so excited to be a part of the natural birthing movement. I can’t wait to see where it leads me and I really can’t wait to help laboring women through the struggle of childbirth and post-partum care. Some very strong women spoke, 2 of them having had 2 c-sections and then 3 VBAC homebirths, it was very inspiring.
We concluded the rally by chanting, “We need more midwives and we need them now!” and then it was over. I got to keep my, “Hug a Midwife” sign, I think I’m going to hang it on my wall.
I finally got to meet Kelli Johnson and it was very sweet. She gave me a hug and took some of my business cards to give to potential clients and we chatted for a minute about birth and how it never stops being astounding and inspiring.
It was a very good rally and I am so glad that I got to attend it!

I am all inspired by your wonderful experiance. Wish I could have gone, And your site AMAZING is the word that comes to mind. Best love and wishes, Jess.
